A Small Modular Reactor (SMR) is 1/100 to 1/150 the size of a large commercial nuclear power plant, with an output of 300 MW or less.

SMRs are Generation IV reactors with enhanced safety, economic efficiency, and flexibility. They can independently supply electricity, heat, and steam, complement the intermittency of renewable energy, replace aging coal-fired power plants, produce hydrogen, serve as marine propulsion engines, and provide power for AI and big data centers or desalination facilities. They are classified as clean energy sources.
